Our programs are designed and delivered by experts using cutting edge teaching methods. We also undertake training for our own specialist drivers and operators – for ensuring currency, up-to-date practices and, on occasion, for ab initio training of new specialist drivers and operators.
Check our programs which are designed and delivered by experts using cutting-edge teaching methods. This, our most prominent course is designed to get you thinking about balancing the risks and benefits of entering or remaining in a potentially dangerous environment, as well as providing you with recommended actions prior to and during a deployment. Staying safe is critical. Working in an unfamiliar environment with a heightened security risk can increase your vulnerability. In a potentially dangerous situation or hostile environment, being aware of a threat even seconds before everyone else, can keep you and your team safe. But what exactly should you look for? How do you know if you’re paying attention to the right things? Are there behaviours or warning signs of an imminent threat that you should be aware of? Organisations operating in demanding environments face significant challenges when responding to and managing crises. The course looks at how effective communication equipment and communication procedures are essential for maintaining operational safety . However, communication extends beyond equipment and procedures and also focuses on understanding how emotional self-control and body language affect communication and can help implement strategies that can de-escalate confrontational encounters. The topics covered throughout the course include: Task and Context Analysis Risk Assessment and Analysis Medical Considerations Equipment Requirements including preparing a ‘grab bag’ Personal and information security Travelling and Route Planning Vehicles and Vehicle Safety Situational awareness Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and Landmines (Anti-Personnel and Anti-Tank) Effective Communications Basic first aid Kidnap Prevention and Survival Methods Stress Management With many common elements between this course and the HEAT course, the primary focus on our HEFAT course is on the provision of emergency medical care and the extended provision of first aid in the event that a crisis does occur and results in injury or trauma. This course is tailored for those entering known high-risk environments where the probability of having to deal with injury is high. These courses are tailored to meet the needs of both our own specialist drivers and operators and also those independent contractors who seek to improve their skills and qualifications. Details of these courses are provided to qualified individuals on request. Designed for senior staff who are responsible for managing deployments of specialist operators, conducting risk assessments and for advising corporate clients and third-party subcontractors These courses enable a full understanding of the implications of decisions that may be made in an airconditioned office on those who are actually under some form of threat or risk themselves. In addition to in-person training courses which we undertake in the UAE and, from time to time, in field locations across the globe, Emerald also offers a selection of its courses online. In particular, we offer an online HEAT course that covers much the same syllabus as our in-person HEAT training but without the practical elements. As such, it can be completed in a significantly shorter time, in ‘bite sized’ chunks – rather than in a single sitting – and can be repeated should a student wish to revisit a specific element in the syllabus.
